Events at Kania Lodge

Each spring and autumn Kania Lodge’s events calendar is full of wine, music, literary, gastronomic and other weekend happenings. Amongst the speakers and performers are leading winemakers and sommeliers from abroad, celebrated Polish musicians and well-known authors. The events are complimentary to lodge guests and open to day visitors with confirmed reservations for the limited number of additional places available. You can also listen to the Mykhalichenko sisters, Khrystyna and Sasha, you may have missed at a Kania concert in 2022.

Wine wisdom

Saturday, October 18

Andrzej Strzelczyk

A chance to learn all you need know about wine to impress your boss, business partners, best friends or wife/husband forever. Andrzej Strzelczyk, the award-winning sommelier who founded Poland's prestigious Wine Academy, will be with us to conduct morning and afternoon classes and sign the handsome Academy certificate confirming your able participation in the event. During both sessions you'll get to taste wines from leading wineries worldwide, learn how to put a decanter to good use, pair wines with food and much, much more. Lunch will be served during the mid-session break and you'll also have the opportunity to explore the gardens, park, vineyard and lakefront at Kania Lodge in all its resplendent autumn colours. A taste of Italy

Saturday, November 8

We've one of the most comprehensive lists of Italian wines in Poland (The Wine Spectator in New York goes even further, crediting Kania Lodge with having one of the "most outstanding restaurant wine lists in the world"). We also serve a pretty good spaghetti puttanesca, Abbacchio alla romana (Roman Style Roast Lamb) and a much-loved tiramisu among many other Italian dishes. We'll be bringing Italian wine and food together at the weekend when sommelier Lila Witkowska conducts a tutored tasting of wines from Piedmont, Alto Adige, Friuli, Tuscany, Abruzzo, Puglia and Sicily. A special discount on any of the Italian wines tasted will be available to guests wishing to stock up for Christmas at home or with family or friends. Also available from the Wine Express warehouse will be specially selected Christmas tasting cases.

Late autumn jazz concert

Lucky us. A neighbour of ours at Kania Lodge is Piotr Lemańczyk, one of the legends of Polish jazz who has performed with scores of top Polish and international artists during his 30 years on the double bass and bass guitar. Piotr's kindly agreed to a November concert at Kania Lodge, when he and fellow jazz musicians Dominik Bukowski and Maksymilian Kreft will entertain us with an hour of beautiful spirit-lifting music as the days grow shorter and the last of the leaves are blown from the trees. There'll be a warm fire and nicely chilled  Prosecco to accompany the music.

A taste of Christmas

Saturday, November 29

A special tasting of wines perfect for the Christmas and New Year festivities will be one of the highlights of this great autumn weekend at Kania Lodge. Our ever-popular sommelier, Lila Witkowska, will tutor the event and is already busy tasting prospective wines. Not only will you get to taste everything from mulled wine served with the English Christmas fruit pies (pictured) to celebratory sparkling, main course and sweet wines. You'll also be able to take home with you specially discounted mixed Christmas cases  and elegantly packed wines for Christmas gifts. There'll be wood fires throughout the lodge and the weekend's menu will include goose, beetroot and mushrooms soups, duck served with apples and quince grown at Kania Lodge and hearty New Zealand lamb pies. The last of this year's autumn colours in our forests should help round off a memorable weekend.
