Marek Bieńczyk, an award-winning writer, historian, and wine enthusiast, will intertwine stories about literature with wine tasting during a convivial gathering in the orangery at Kania Lodge. He is the recipient of the prestigious Nike Literary Award in 2012 and the Warsaw Creator Award in 2025, co-author of the first Polish guidebook Wina Europy (published 2005–2009), and author of three volumes of wine chronicles.
Marek will select six of his favourite wines for participants to taste while he shares his personal memories and reflections on wine journalism and the Polish literary scene in general. A small selection of the author's books will be available at the lodge. He'll be happy to sign them.
Your chance to listen to the music of Debussy, Ravel, Faure, Saint-Saens and other French impressionists with a glass of wine in hand and our vineyard and the lake in the background. This is one of the most popular musical events we've staged in recent years and Agnieszka and Andrzej Sowa will return to perform outdoors or in our tarasola for the third year in a row. As always we'll be serving the lodge's much-loved Pavlova dessert during the intermission. We do so in honour of impressionist composer Camille Saint-Saens whose piece The Swan helped bring fame and fortune to ballerina Anna Pavlova. Her scores of performances to his music while wearing a tutu skirt, silk bodice and swan feathers on two tours of New Zealand and Australia in the 1920s inspired the antipodeans to name the popular dessert after her.

Andrzej Strzelczyk
A chance to learn all you need know to feel confident when choosing, buying and serving everyday wines as well as those for special occasions. Your tutor will be Andrzej Strzelczyk, the award-winning sommelier who founded Poland's prestigious Wine Academy and whose similar course here last year was quickly fully subscribed. With Andrzej you'll get to taste wines from leading wineries worldwide, discover which wines you like and why, how to buy better for less as well as the skills needed to navigate a restaurant's lengthy list and pair wines with food. And much, much more besides. Lunch will be served during the mid-session break and Andrzej will sign a handsome certificate acknowledging your participation in this special Kania Lodge event.
Lila, our globe trotting sommelier, was recently in Lebanon (pictured amongst bush vines in the Bekaa Valley). She has stories to tell along with tips on when and where to go in Lebanon if you too would like an adventuresome break. There'll be wines and arak for you to taste under her tutelage in the tarosola overlooking the Kania Lodge vineyard. While Lila holds you enraptured outside, our chefs will be adding the finishing touches to a feast of Lebanese mezze and getting ready to fire up the grill to cook shish taouk and other much loved Lebanese mains. Leave room for desserts, especially the mahalabia milk pudding. Complimentary signed copies of "Kania on a Plate" available to lodge guests who'd like access to our favourite Lebanese recipes.

Quartet Piotr Lemańczyk
After lots of requests for a repeat of the jazz concert staged at the lodge last autumn, we've persuaded the Piotr Lamanczyk quartet to return for this open air performance . It will be staged in the park overlooking our vineyard. There'll be comfortable seating available but if you want to bring a rug, cushions and a sun hat, the lawn is all yours. We'll be serving sparkling New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc throughout and you can stroll through the vineyard or gardens and take in our beautiful lake views during the intermission.
Few Polish winemakers have been as successful as Kamil Barczentewicz. In less than a decade he has turned Dobre into one of Poland's most highly thought of brands. His 12-hectare vineyard near Kazimierz Dolny is planted almost exclusively with grape varieties - Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Gewurztraminer and Riesling - which were once not thought viable in Poland. Bold grape selection, winemaking studies and experience in Austria, France and Chile and a minimal intervention approach to winemaking have all helped make him one of the Polish wine world's brightest stars. Kamil will talk guests through his pioneering venture into uncharted vinous territory while tutoring a collegial tasting of his wines. His wife Ania, a potter, will also show some of her much-admired wine related ceramics, including a beautiful made-to-order wine cooler.
